The Bible is God's WordBefore we can begin a discussion about what the Bible tells us about God's plan for salvation, we must agree that the Bible is the inspired word of God. The Bible is completely true and without error. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16) God's LoveThe Bible tells us that God loves every one of us. He does not want any of us to suffer For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) Man's SinBut, because of the original sin of Adam, everyone of us has a sinful nature. We are born into sin. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) Sin's PenaltyGod's justice demands that we pay a penalty for our sins. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23) Jesus' DeathThat's not the end of the story. Romans 5:8 continues with good news for all of us But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ dies for us. Since Jesus died to take the penalty for our sin, all we have to do is believe that he died for us and the burden for our sin is removed. Faith's DoorThis leads us to Faith's Door. Jesus says: "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me." (Revelation 3:20) Becoming a ChristianIf you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved . . . for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
